I'm desperately trying to figure out how they make the apple tea over at Noah's - I'm spending way too much time and money over there just for this liquid goddess.
And I've finally succumbed to loving autumn again. When it first comes, I always find it too cold, wet and windy, at times downright depressing. But after a while, when the colors switch from green to yellow and red, and I find my old, (semi) waterproof and warm clothes, I learn to love it again. I rediscover cocoa and tea, Joni Mitchell, Nick Cave and Melissa Horn; Bukowski, Kurt Vonnegut and George Orwell. I've rediscovered our natural history museum, who has great coffee and currently the most awesome insect-exhibit going on. I'm such a nerd.
I've redisovered notebooks and lists, and I'm constantly writing and re-writing my backpacking packing list, my christmas wishing list and christmas shopping list.
Love, love, love, love autumn.

shed a little light
I'm too lost for words to say anything about the Tori Amos concert right now (oh my god I love her I love her I love her), but you should check out her support artist, Foy Vance.
I think it's the first time I've fallen in love with the support artist/band at a concert.

candyland
"I would stand transfixed before the windows of the confectioners' shops, fascinated by the luminous sparkle of candied fruits, the cloudy lustre of jellies, the kaleidoscope inflorescence of acidulated fruitdrops -- red, green, orange, violet: I coveted the colours themselves as much as the pleasure they promised me."
Simone de Beauvoir

Yes, I'm extremely excited abouth the next Neverland.
Tomorrow I'm going to see Tori Amos live at Sentrum Scene, oh my god, oh my god. I've seen her two times before, but it's probably four years since last time. She's amazing on stage, she's glowing, she's beautiful and hot and sad and happy and just, oh my god.
Thank you for the ticket, Alek! <3

gnarl

HOW is it, that some people just manage to pull everything off?
How their layered necklaces are always hanging beautifully, like on Miss Sea Of Shoes over here? How their shirts are always smoothly tucked into their pants/skirts? How their tight, long tops are always hanging perfectly over their jeans?
Cause it's never like that with me. My necklaces are always tangled, hanging in this sort of lumpy mess between my boobs. The buttons of my jeans always create some sort of lump under my top. My shirts always form a sort of muffin top-looking bulk just over the skirt line. Fuck it. From now on I'm only wearing dresses.
neverland
October 3rd can't come soon enough. It's the 5th NEVERLAND event, and the first one I've had the chance to attend. Candy vs Hyperstate, omg. I'm going dressed as candy, of course. You should come!

Bought one of Fam Irvoll's awesome cake hats (like the ones in the picture^) the other day, and I have a pretty cool idea for the rest of my costume too. Can't wait to show you when it's done!

armando santos
Yesterday I catwalked for Armando Santos at Galleri:Format, and it was so much fun! His demin collection (based on recycled denim) is on exhibit there until October 4th, you should take a look if you're in the Oslo-area, it's very cool.

Tonje Schmidt did out make up, Maria from Adam&Eva did our hair. Here I am backstage after the show, in a dress they very nearly had to pry out of my hands, I wanted to keep it so badly!

nostalgia
When I was a kid, my father, my sister and I made this Christmas calendar.
We cut potatoes in half, and carved faces onto them; nose, mouth, eyes. Then we painted them. We made four, one for each Advent Sunday.
Dad had prepared a miniature house, made out of small pebbles, complete with a front door, two windows and a chimney. He had glued it onto a white wooden board, so it looked like a small house in the snow. We laid the four potato-people in front of the house, and covered them with the rest of the pebbles, thus making four lumps - four graves. And each Advent Sunday we opened one grave to see how much the potato-person had deformed. They dried out, and shrunk, and turned hilariously disgusting, more and more disgusting for each week, and I loved that calendar.
Once, when leaving the kinder garden on a Friday, I'd turned to my kinder garden teacher and proudly said: "we're going to open another grave on Sunday, miss!", leaving my father and the teacher in a rather awkward silence as I bolted for the door.
Pia has made me all a-flutter about Christmas already, and I've thrown myself into planning calendars, presents, wrapping and decoration, even though it's 108 days away. I can't wait!

bye-bye-bye
Helle is moving to London tomorrow morning, which SUCKS.
We wrote her a crappy farewell-song and I gave her a really tacky touristy ash tray, with the Norwegian flag and a viking ship on it.
Helle: You must use it. I expect to see it on your night stand/porch/veranda when I come to visit/inspect. Just sayin'.
And honey, you'll meet a lot of cool people, a lot of hunky emo poodles, and generally have an awesome time. But we were her first, you're ours and we expect you back here with us soon; drinking our beer, chugging our coffee and sleeping in our beds. Where you belong.
I'll even buy you a 4 dl measuring cup for your noodles (gigglesnort).
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'll miss you. We'll miss you. Like crazy.

hey, little sister
Today my little sister went away for college. We (mum, dad, me and her boyfriend) drove her and her stuff to the school, where we met her roommate for the first time. I hoped she would be some annoying girl with a terrible, loud laugh, so my sister would call me often, whining and sharing fun stories, but she seemed nice. Damn.
Then there was a lunch, an introduction seminar and CAKE, and then we left. My sister cried a little when we left (I'd like to think it was because of me, but it might have been about her boyfriend), which my dad answered by singing a loud chorus of "finally rid of her".
Point is. I'LL MISS HER. :(

hello sailor
Well, hello, my new obsession;
Grey nail polish. Love.Yesterday I went to a combined housewarming and going away party, and it was awesome. A sweet combination of rum, tequila and beer made me very happy-drunk and I ended up dancing a lot, laughing a lot, and appearantly, talking Swedish for two hours straight. Charming.
The election is just three weeks away, and I've been lousy at catching up on my politics lately, so now I've buried my desk with news papers, fliers and a wee bit propaganda. Although, the more I read, the less confident I get about which party to vote for. I'll probably end up voting tactical (AP to keep FRP out), but they're not environment-friendly enough.
Maybe I should just watch an episode or four of Coupling in stead, and pick the party with the prettiest logo.

capa

Pictures from Jeux d'enfants ("love me if you dare"), one of my favorite movies; with some of the quirkiest, loveliest quotes and one of the most beautiful actresses I know, Marion Cotillard.Today, we went to IKEA and bought ice cream and screws and bolts. It was nice.
And while randomly browsing the shops in Markveien on my way home, I found an awesome, carousel-shaped cookie jar. It reminded me of the movie and made me smile, so I had to get it. It will hold my secret candy stash.
